State Statute Salary Tentative Agreement Reached

A tentative contract agreement on 2020-21 salaries addendum has been reached with The City of Pembroke Pines.

The tentative agreement will be voted on electronically by all members of the BTU CSP bargaining unit beginning at 7 am on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and ending at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4All members of the bargaining unit are eligible to vote regardless of BTU membership. If the tentative agreement is ratified, the City is scheduled to vote to ratify the agreement at its City Commission meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Highlights of the tentative agreement:

  • The minimum salary for all bargaining unit employees will be increased to at least $47,500 with a minimum increase of 2% for those whose current salary is below $47,500 as defined in HB641.
  • Salaries will be increased by $1,619.63 for bargaining unit members whose salary is currently $47,500 or above. 
  • Wage increases will be paid retroactively to 7/1/2020. Payment will be processed within
    four weeks of the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation funds being received. 
  • Salaries for future fulltime hires will be no lower than $47,500.

After both BTU and the City have ratified the contract, salary adjustments will be paid retroactively to July 1 within 4 weeks of approval and receipt of funds from the State Department of Education.

  • If you do not see a ballot in one of those mailboxes by 1 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 3, send an email requesting a new ballot to communications@btuonline.com. The deadline to request a replacement ballot is 9 am on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
