2018-19 CSP Negotiations

A tentative contract agreement for 2018-21 has been reached with The City of Pembroke Pines. The tentative agreement includes re-openers to discuss salary for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.

The tentative agreement will be voted on by members of the BTU CSP bargaining unit on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the times and locations listed below.

After both BTU and the City have ratified the contract, salary adjustments will be paidretroactively to the first day of the 2018-19 school year within 45 days of ratification. Only teachers who are employed by the City Charter Schools on the date of full ratification of this contract are eligible. Changes to the contract focus on wage increases and evaluations.

Grandfathered Teachers

  • Those not at the maximum salary will receive a one-time $1,600 base salary increase up to the maximum of the pay range.
  • Those at the maximum salary will receive a one-time lump-sum payment of $1,000.

Pay for Performance Teachers Hired Before 2018-19

  • Those not at the maximum salary will receive a base salary increase dependent upon performance level as specified in section 20.7 of the contract.
  • Those at the maximum salary will receive an increase as a lump sum based on performance score.


  • The Pines Charter evaluation system, PAGES, will be updated to reflect changes in School Board policies that were previously negotiated by BTU.

All members of the bargaining unit are eligible to vote, regardless of union membership. Contract ratification voting will take place as outlined below.


  • East Campus: 3:30-4:30 pm at front desk
  • Central  Campus: 3:30-4:30 pm in principal's conference room


  • FSU campus: 3-4 pm in room B230
  • Academic Village: 2:15-4 pm in room C103
  • West Campus: 3:15-4:15 pm in room 138 (middle school)

All members of the bargaining unit, regardless of membership in BTU, are invited to observe the ballot counting. All ballots will be counted and announced at the voting locations at the end of voting. BTU will announce final results to the bargaining unit within three (3) days of completion of voting.
